I have a smart lock from another brand, and it is linked to the Google Home app. Can I unlock my door without using the PIN code?

When I authenticate other accounts, the following prompt appears:
Set Pin Code
When you ask Google Home to unlock your
device,it wil prompt for your pincode. Pleaseinput 4 digits below as your pincode:

Yes No

when I choose No,the following prompt appears:

Without setting pin code, unlocking is notsupported in Google Home. You may set up laterby re-linking your account.

So I would like to ask, is this option mandatory?🤔
