Nest can't communicate

I'm feeling very frustrated that I can't resolve this issue that apparently is very frequent for other users as well.

I keep trying to connect. Hear the sound. It connects and then says cannot communicate. Rebooted and reinstalled several times.

Which Google Nest device is this post in regard to? (model name, generation number)
What is unable to communicate? Are you trying to do a call? Are you trying to connect to WiFi?
Where are you seeing this error message?
What have you rebooted?
What have you reinstalled?
