is there any work round to fix this? have any of the google staff on here given an honest answer as to why it was removed given that far from being a hardly used feature, im sure it was one of the most common uses for a smart speaker.

i always found it strange that apple homepods couldnt ever do this, and now google have downgraded to be equal. i wonder if alexa can manage it?

i thought i had cracked it by using a 'routine'. once i found routines, given help documents tell you to press routine, but you press automations, cant google choose one term or the other? i set a routine, set a time chose listen to the radio, and typed in BBC radio 1. now my google box can happily play bbc radio 1 simply by me saying hey google play bbc radio 1, so this should work...

first try this morning, google loudly rambles about not being able to play certain things, but can play spotify, and its found a spotify playlist, and then i get what i think was death metal, forgive me if i get the names wrong as its not my sort of music.

hey google stop. stop stop stop! hey google play bbc radio 1...

why is google going back the way?
