I got my mini a few weeks ago, my first google home product.

When I have google play music on it, there are occasional static pops. I have followed advice online to disable the ultrasonic sensor, and this is still happening.

When I cast music to it from my phone (which I often do with sleep music), it will sometimes disconnect during the night (my insomnia means I've been able to ascertain the times appear to be random).

Could this be a glitchy unit? Or is just how they are?

Hi ArtemisRob,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to help you with the inconvenience you're experiencing with your Google Nest or Home speaker/display. Here are some steps you can try:

Confirm if a music service is working by playing a song.

Say "Okay Google, play music." (Note: Music will play from your default music provider)

Reboot Google Nest or Google Home speaker or display.

If applicable, try taking off the device's base cover to see if the poor quality is a result of a loose base cover.

Perform a factory reset.

Please let me know after trying these steps if it works properly.

Regards,

Manuel
