Cannot play display audio through any Bluetooth devices

I can’t get my nest hub to cast to any Bluetooth speakers or play from anywher other than the display unit (despite the fact that the hub and the iPhone app say the default speaker is an external Bluetooth speaker.

Have tried many of the generic fixes posted in the community - none work.
About to return product - anyone got any ideas before I do?

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with the Nest Hub not displaying audio to Bluetooth. I understand how frustrating that situation can be. But don't worry, I can help. Just to let you know, the Nest Hub doesn't have the capability to play its screen audio through external speakers. However, you can create a speaker group to play audio on both your Nest Hub and external speakers simultaneously.

Here is how to create a speaker group:

Open the Google Home app.
Tap Settings > Devices, groups & rooms.
Tap Speaker groups > Create speaker group.
Tap each device you want to include in the group > Next.
Enter a name for the group.
Tap Save.
