Google nest mini does not cast to chromecast audio

I have been using the nest mini to cast to my chromecast audio which is setup as the default speaker.

this has stopped working and plays via the nest speaker, also find 4 new speakers all with the same name.

Forget to mention, after restarting the wifi router, booth devices are reset to factory default.

That did not solve the issue

Since you already performed a factory reset, please follow these extra troubleshooting steps:

Reboot your Chromecast Audio device from the power source.
Ensure the Chromecast Audio is correctly set up in the Google Home app.

If the device is correctly set up, proceed to the next step.
If not, try to perform a factory reset on the Chromecast Audio.

Once you’ve verified that the device is set up on the Google Home app with a mobile device, you should be able to cast. Try to cast video from a Google Cast-enabled app like Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, etc. If you can cast content, there's no inconvenience with your streaming setup, and you can move to the next step.
Reboot your Nest Mini and make sure the Google streaming device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone and speaker.
Make sure your Nest Mini is running the last firmware version.
Try to connect both devices; you can refer to this link for instructions: Plug in Chromecast Audio.

Hello Ana,

I have tried a coup,e of things,

- reset the nest to factory default and reconnected to the same wifi network

- reset the Chromecast to factory default

- restarted the wifi router

- deleted the google home app from my phone and iPad

in the home app, I find four speakers all referring to the google nest which I cannot delete, set my chromecast as default speaker.

situation now casting to Chromecast works of I say ‘hey Google play Lou Reed on Cast’

Previous it works saying ‘ hey Google play Lou Reed’

so, this workaround is okay(ish) but did not find a way to remove/delete those additional speakers.

To best assist you in removing the speakers, please answer the following questions:

Are they Google Nest speakers or from a different brand?
Does your family have full access to the home? Does anyone else in your family add speakers?
Additionally, could you please share a picture of the error message you receive when you try to remove them?

Hello Ana,

The additional speakers are found in the list of speakers to select in the ‘audio’ settings of the nest mini and cannot be deleted via swipe or long press.

Adding a screenshot of this failed with message I do not have permission to do this.

Thank you for your prompt response. I'm truly sorry the speakers cannot be removed from the Google Home app. This issue likely arises because the devices were added by a family member who no longer has access to the home, hence the "you don't have permission" error message.

To resolve this inconvenience, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Create a new home structure: Within the Google Home app, create a new home using the same address.
Move your devices: Relocate the devices you currently use to the newly created home structure.
Delete the old home: Once the devices are moved, delete the original home structure where the speakers are located.
