Cannot Authenticate HK Citation One Speaker

Trying to connect a HK Citation One speaker to google home. Google home can find the speaker with no issue but i get a recurring warning as follows:

"We couldn't authiticate your HK Citation ONE. Please visit support.google.com/chromecast for help troubleshooting this issue."

Has anyone overcome this issue? I have tried all the usual troubleshooting steps.
