My Google Home Mini suddenly could not connect to my wifi network. I've done restarts of the router and a factory reset of the Google Mini Speaker but it will not connect. I found another post about workaround on iPhone (by turning on local network settings?) But have been unable to find an Android workaround. All other devices in my home network are fine. From other forums and new posts, it seems connected to the Nokia 5G Fastmile router and Optus supposedly using CGNAT. Has anyone been able to find a workaround?

I just found a work around (after hours and hours of factory rebooting 2 routers my Google Home Mini speaker and 2 Chromecasts), you just need to set your 5GHZ network to lower channel numbers which downgrade your speed. I had to change from channel 161 to 36, lowering my max hypothetical speed from 867mpbs to 400mbps. I'm thinking my Google Chromecast Gen 2 can also reconnect back. Other posts in comments (from https://www.adamfowlerit.com/2020/01/google-nest-mini-wont-connect-to-5ghz-network/ blog dating back to 2020), say it has to do with late November, early December 2021 firmware update... Not sure if that was try BUT it worked and I now have my Google Mini speaker working again. Hopefully the speed is still fine for 4k TV, else I might have to bin this.

I've had a look through the FastMile settings and I'm not sure which setting to tweak. Many thanks.

Hi, I had issues with both my Chromecast Gen 2 (2015 i think) and my Home Mini, and they are now both working at Channel 100. For the query about where in the admin panel, you have to go to Network (top menu) and 5ghz (left menu). Hope that helps.

For me, the fix was renaming the 5GHz SSID in the admin. Forcing everything to connect to the 2.4GHz network (only) immediately resolved the issue.

Everything (Chromecast, nest mini etc) once again connected without issue.

None of the technical solutions worked for me - all my devices continued to have issues with the mesh connection and I couldn’t use Chromecast or Airplay over the network. I finally found a solution which did come at a cost but has solved all the issues - I bought a Google Nest wifi router which plugs into the Nokia FastMile router via a network cable and beams out a separate wifi network. All of my devices happily connected straight away to the new network from the Nest router.

Hi everyone, link an Netgear range extender to your Nokia router. Then on your phone setup a wifi network that specifically connects to your Netgear. Go into Google home and setup your Chromecast or hub to the Netgear extender. This worked for me

it does require you to switch to the range extender network when streaming, but it works.
