Google home mini states mic is off when it is toggled to on

My google home mini repeatedly states the mic is off even when the mic toggle is on. The problem persists even after it has been rebooted from the google assistant app, unplugged from the power source and replugged back in, and after a factor reset.

Hi Julie4. At this moment I have no idea how to fix it, saying that I have just watched a video on how to take the back off mini and solder 2 connections to keep the mic button on all the time. I am reluctant to try out the instructions just in case I stop the mini working full time.
