Swipe bars are displayed over photos when using Google Hub as a Photo Frame

I wanted to use the the Google Hub as a photo frame for grandparents but there are two grey bars that display over the photos (one on the right side and one on the bottom). I think they are supposed to indicate that you can swipe from that direction but they're pretty annoying and I was wondering how you turn them off.
