Change device name

I tried changing the device name on my best mini but when I hit save it goes back to the original name it was saved as. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Glad you reached out.

To make it easier to identify and control devices you set up in the Google Home app, you can change the names of your devices. You can follow these easy steps:

Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
Open the Google Home app .
Tap the device you want to edit.
At the top right corner, tap Settings Device information Device name.
Enter a new name tap Save.

In case these steps won't work, I would suggest to reset your Google Nest Mini and follow the set up guide.

Sorry to hear about this. Can you please check if your Home app is on its latest version? Make sure to update the app and if it still won't work, let's try to perform a complete reset to see if that would make any changes.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It turns out that I couldn't make the change on my Pixel phone, but i borrowed my wife's iPhone and it renamed with no issue. Embarrassing? Yes. Ironic? Also, yes. But it is fixed now.

I appreciate you trying to check other phone to see how it goes. There might be updates on other devices that's why you have encountered such thing. Just keep on monitoring and update the app from time to time to see if it will work on your Pixel phone.
