Nest Hub won’t recognize cooking commands

One of the reasons I purchased the Nest Hub was for cooking, and it doesn’t recognize any of the commands, even when I select the item on the screen. If I say, “Hey Google, start cooking” it will go to the recipe, but that’s about it. “Hey Google, prepare ingredients” gets me an “I don’t understand, but here’s a list of items I found in a search.” If I try to save to the cookbook, it doesn’t understand, even if I tap the onscreen button!
