google nest home not responding first time

I have an issue where when I ask my google home hub to do anything, it doesn't pick up the command first time, it will reply 'sorry, something has gone wrong, please try again in a few seconds' if i then ask again, it will follow command. I am also getting replies from speakers in other rooms which aren't under direct command? What's going on?
