JUST POSTING THIS IN CASE IT HELPS SOMEONE ELSE!

I have two new Google Nest Audios, which I have set up as a 'pair' following the instructions carefully.

My paired Nest Audio speakers are: Front Room speaker and Front Room speaker 2

The pair is called Front Room pair.

In the Google Home app I had set the 'default music speaker' to be Front Room pair (the top entry in the list of options).

But I had a very irritating problem: Whenever I asked to play something, e.g. "Hey Google, play Beethoven's ninth symphony", it always asks one of

"Do you still want to play that on Front Room pair?" example or

"Would you like that to play on Front Room pair?" example or

"Shall I still play that on Front Room pair?" or

"Should I still play that on Front Room pair?".

I googled this problem and only found two references to the problem and didn't find any helpful solutions.

I think I may have got to the bottom of this, and my problem has now gone away. 😁

At one point I noticed that although I had designated "Front Room pair" as the default speaker for music, the Speaker pair settings page for Front Room pair said Front Room speaker, not Front Room pair:

I went back to the Default music speaker page and noticed there were actually TWO entries saying "Front Room pair" - the top one says "(this device)"

When I selected the one at the bottom, rather than the one at the top, she stopped asking me whether I wanted to play it on the pair each time! Result!

I think that the top entry, although adopting the name of the pair, actually represents just the left speaker, so playing on the pair is considered different from the default, so needs checking each time.

As I said, just posting this in case anyone else has this frustrating problem. I think it's a bug that the pair's settings page can say the default music device is just one speaker of a pair - the individual speaker should no longer exist - it's part of a stereo pair now!

BTW - VERY happy with the audio quality and stereo performance - plenty of bass! 😀

Thanks for visiting the community.

We appreciate you sharing those steps. It is indeed helpful to those users having the same issues on their Google Home/Nest devices. Also, we appreciate how you love your speakers. Rest assured that your feedback has been noted and will be forwarded to the team.

It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
