I have two Nest Mini speakers paired. When connected to my iPhone 12 via Bluetooth they work perfectly, no delays, great stereo sound. Yet, when I connect them to my Mac Studio (MacOS Monterrey), they play well for a couple of minutes and then the right speaker starts to give choppy audio ... always!!! This happens regardless of streaming internet music or playing it directly from my Mac hard drive. All the devices are in the same room, including the router (speed 200Mb+). I have read several postings on similar issues but multiple attempts to correct this problem have not been successful. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hey neorodz37,

Thanks for reaching out.

Have you tried pairing another Bluetooth speaker to your Mac Studio to see if you'll get the same result? Could you try saying "Ok Google, clear all paired devices" Also, check for possible nearby interference sources like other Bluetooth devices, high voltage appliances, or devices connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If possible, place both devices in the same room.

Best,

Hi. Thanks for the input. Yes, I tried different bluetooth speakers (Echo dot, OontZ Angle) and the problem remains; same results. I have separated the speakers from other equipment, creating distance, the problem persists. I have disconnected all other Bluetooth devices, including keyboard and mouse, leaving only the paired speakers, and for a little while the music plays stereo and shortly after, the right speaker starts to skip; choppy sound. I have tried different player apps, like VLC, Music, MPlayer, QuickTime; it makes no difference. Now, through experimentation, only one thing has worked so far. If I use VLC, and instead of letting it used the set computer audio out I select the paired speakers as the renderer under the Playback menu, it will work well and consistently all the time regardless of how many bluetooth devices are connected: very decent stereo sound, no skips. So far, no other solutions.

Hi neorodz37,

Thanks for all the details you've shared. You might want to check these settings to see if it will work.

How to correct group playback delay

Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, or speaker or display.

Cast music to the group that's playing out of sync.

Stand between the out of sync speakers (or as close to in between as you can) and adjust their volume levels so you hear them both playing at about the same level.

Open the Google Home app .

Touch and hold your device's tile.

Tap Settings Audio Group delay correction.

Move the slider to the left or right until the audio sound in sync.

Note: For many devices, the inherent delay is extremely short, so group playback will be in sync without any additional adjustments. Do not adjust the group delay correction unless you notice a consistent, significant delay. The group delay correction setting only affects group playback. This setting will have no effect when casting to a single speaker or TV. A device’s group delay correction setting will be applied to all the groups that the device is a part of. If you connect a Chromecast or Chromecast Audio to another speaker or TV, the previous group delay correction setting might be incorrect. Make sure to reset it to "0" delay again and listen to see if additional correction is required.

Best,

HI. I have attempted the following multiple times: turned computer and all devices on & off, resetting speakers, paired/unpaired devices including speakers, separate speakers back and forth (to mono to stereo), start the pairing process with left speaker, then with right speaker; etc. I was able to get decent sound for about 10 minutes one time, then back to choppy sound; delaying a speaker does nothing. The only player that works consistently (no choppy sound) is VLC and only when using the paired speakers as the renderer.

We understand! You can send feedback on your device or on the Google Home app by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," or by following the steps on this link. Once you're available and still need help with your Google Nest devices, feel free to start a new thread in the community and we’ll be happy to help.

Kind regards,
