Update issue. Google home needs update google play only allows me to open or uninstall

The google home app needs update. Trying to add google nest max it connects to the phone then it says home app needs update. I click the update option bringing me to google play. Google play only gives me the option to Uninstall or open. How can I update it?

Hey dshoup,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's check this out.

A few questions: what's the make and model of your phone? How about the Android version? Is it also happening when you're using a different mobile phone?

Try clearing the cache and data of your Google Home app then, reinstall it. Try checking if your Google Play service is also updated. Rebooting your phone might help too.
