Thanks for reaching out. That sounds like a very frustrating and unusual error. I would be more than happy to help find solution so that you can enjoy your speaker group. First, I have some questions regarding this situation:

Which Google speaker devices are you trying to connect? (model name, generation number)
Is this the first time you are making a speaker group?
Where is that error showing up? On the Google Home App?
Could you post a screenshot of that error message?
Are the speakers powering on and working normally besides this issue?
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on the device itself? If so, what have you tried?

I have the same issue. With a LG SJ8S Soundbar.

I get these errors:

Com.google.CastFramework.SetupLib.CastSetupError error0

Com.google.CastFramework.SetupLib.CastSetupError error22

The LG Soundbar worked fine for almost 2 years in the speakergroup, but in march it just didnt connect anymore. It shows up as a local unit but i cant add it to the speaker group or even a room.

Unfortunately, the speaker groups feature only works with certain compatible devices.
- Compatible devices include Google Home, Google Nest Mini (2nd gen), Google Home Mini (1st gen), Google Home Max, Google Nest Audio, and Google Nest displays, Google Nest Wifi point, Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast Audio, and devices with Chromecast built-in.

Hi again.

I havent got any solution yet for my problem.

The Chromecast built-in my LG Soundbar still doenst connect to the speaker group. It shows up as a Local unit but i cant add it to the group or a room.

I hope someone can help

yes i was and still is in contact with them but they wont recognise the problem and say that they havent heard about it before either.

they only says what they can find via google- that we already knew

Hey there Kaptenuffe,

Thanks for trying to reach out to them as we have limited support for third-party speakers and unfortunately the manufacturer would know more about the issue.

I did find some other steps that you can try though:

On your iOS device’s home screen (iOS 14 or later), tap Settings.
Tap Privacy Local Network. You'll find a list of apps.
Turn on Local Network Access for the app(s) you would like to allow access to your network. This will allow permissions for the device.

And Lg support dont answer anymore either - i have replied to them 3 times the last month but no answer
