All of a sudden when I give a command...say "Hey Google, turn on light"....whatever program is currently streaming will pause and I have to ask it to play again. Even if I have given a command to "Rewind Living room tv" it will go back but then pause and wait. It has never done this in the past 2-3 years since I have had it and just started suddenly one one device before popping up on another.

Hey Hbrazil,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's figure this out.

A few questions: when did it start happening? What Google Nest device are you having problems with? Also, were there any recent changes to your network or set up?

Try rebooting your devices and router to refresh the connection.
Resetting your speakers might help too.
