Have tried putting into recovery mode but still stuck on a grey background with the 'G' in the middle and won't change

I have tried doing that a few times but it still stays on the screen with the g in the middle and does not reset

Will6, I'd like to ask for some additional details.

Are you using the original power adapter that came with your Google Nest Hub?
Have you tried plugging the device to a different power outlet?
When was this issue (stuck on the gray G logo) first noticed?
Was the device already in this state when you first discovered it?
If not, were you in the middle of interacting with the device when it happened?
If so, what were you trying to do?
Did you unplug the device or was there a power outage shortly before you discovered this issue?

Give these steps a try:

Try plugging your device into a different power source.
Put the device in recovery mode:
1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Hold down the volume buttons and plug in the power cord at the same time.while the customer plugs the power cord back in.
3. Wait for the device to turn on.
4. Release the volume buttons.
Once the device is in recovery mode, press and hold both volume buttons for 10 seconds.
