Unable to link my new phone to my Google Account

I’ve spent two days trying to link my new Iphone to my Google account so I can use the Mini Nest Speaker to find it if needed. Every time I ask the speaker to find my phone it wants to ring my old Samsung phone .I have deleted my Google account from the Samsung phone and it doesn’t make any difference. I’ve read every Google Support page on how to do it but it doesn’t work. I’m at my wit’s end now, if someone can help I’d immensely appreciate it.
