Do I need to have my phone connected to wifi to be able to play music on my Nest Mini?

Hi Tillie,

To cast music you will need to be on the same WiFi network as your device. However it is possible to use the Google assistant on a mobile device that's not on the same WiFi network to play music with a full command " Play the Beatles on living room hub" or you can also use a Bluetooth connection.

Cathal_S, thanks for sharing that helpful information.

Tillie, adding to what Cathal_S has mentioned, once you set up your Google Nest Mini and link your music provider, you can play music to it even without your phone. If you have a premium account, you'll hear specific songs/albums/artists while a free one will only give you music inspired by the song/album/artist. Check this page for more information.
