I’m sorry but that’s total garbage. I’d be rebooting literally every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

I’ve wanted to switch to google smart devices so I could cast SoundCloud to my music groups. However I’ve discovered that the Nest Mini and Nest audio cannot work with a dual band router because when it switches it loses the ssid and can never connect again unless I Unplug/reboot the device which is crazy. The only way I’ve been able to keep them on long term is to set up a guest network and only allow a single band on that network, but when I’m on the primary network with my phone I can’t see any of the sound groups because they are on the guest network. This has been an issue for years apparently as I’ve seen posts from 2019 citing the same issue. How in the day of dual band mesh networks is this even ok? What is the plan to fix this? Is there even a plan because if not then I’m dumping Google and going back to Amazon.

Hi folks,

@RachelGomez123, thanks for the help.

@Tonguencheek, your Nest Mini and Nest Audio are working as intended. They can only be connected to one connection. Both your phone and your Nest speakers must be on the same network/frequency for them to communicate with each other. With that said, you can contact your ISP or router/modem’s manufacturer to disable the band steering or separate your dual band frequency and connect your Nest speakers to only one network.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan
