removing disconnected device

how do I remove a disconnected device in Google Home? I see this question asked a lot, and nobody has given an answer. when I go to remove it, it just says can’t connect, which is true the device is gone. i refuse to make another home, move the device, and delete the new home or migrate all my stuff between homes.

Me too, the only way I could do it was to create another home. Really poor when smart life app does it really easy

Did you use your account to link the device? How many accounts are linked on the Google Home app? What type of device are you trying to remove? Have you tried to use a different phone/tablet? Only 1 account linked and that was used to link it. Cannot remove a LG TV for example

it is pretty straight forward, it is all operating systems, all versions of the app, and any device that was disconnected from wifi and can’t be reconnected to wifi. you have no option to hit “remove device”. also, if you create a new home, it does not show up as a device to add to the new home since it is disconnected.

Hey obwanknobi,

Understood. When you create a new home and moving your connected devices to it, have you tried deleting the old home that you have? If so, can you still see your disconnected device in your new home? Also, try clearing the cache and data of your Google Home app then, reinstall it.

i have 40 items in my Home, I’m not creating a new Home, moving 38 over, reconfiguring them, to delete 2, that’s insane. Where is the option to remove a disconnected device???

Hey folks,

We understand. Could you give these steps a try?

Open the Google home app.
Tap your device > Settings > Unlink or Remove device > Unlink or Remove.

Note: Some basic device data may remain associated with the home.

of course i and many others have tried that. It says “connect device to wifi” and gives no options to remove

Hey folks,

While this is not a security risk, we understand the list of disconnected devices can be bothersome. The appropriate teams are aware of this behavior and have been investigating. You can send a feedback report from the Google Home app, ensure that "Send device usage data and crash reports to Google" is turned on for the device experiencing the issue.
