Google Home Max says someone is viewing the camera

Our Google Home Max has been randomly showing the notification that someone is watching or viewing the camera on the display screen. My wife has noticed this several times while she is in the room and when she aknowledges it the notification goes away as if whoever is watching disconnects. We are very concerned that there could be a breach in our account of security and someone is able to access our camera

That is concerning. It might give me some relief however in the possibility that it could be a widespread technical issue rather than someone actually monitoring my device

That does mean that the camera is being viewed by somebody in your set up household. Double check that the camera isn't being streamed to any of your devices. If that isn't the case, change your passwords.

The message says “Device is being monitored”. The firmware version is Chromcast firmware version 1.63.324740, and we started to notice the message on Thursday 1/12

Thanks for the quick response. Are there other users watching or accessing the Nest or Google Home app on their devices? Could you provide the system version of your device, and check if it's on Fuchsia.

Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
Tap Settings About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
- For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

Initially that’s what we thought was happening but someone else in this this forum informed me that there is a different is “Viewing” vs “monitoring”. According to my wife ours said it was being “monitored “. Either way this isn’t something we’ve seen before and seems strange.

We have Fuchsia version

Judging from all the posts on this issue, this "Device is being monitored" message is a defect that was introduced in a recent release of the Google Home app.
