“Max volume” suddenly is about 10% of what it was before.

perfect 5g WiFi connections

rebooted all 9 minis a few times

sometimes a wave of normal volume comes through (for a second or 2)

ran in the exact same config for 3 years without any problems

also if playing on a single mini, so not only if streaming to speaker group

both manual tipping on device and central volume changes via app have same result

if connected to Bluetooth, volume works perfectly

Extremely annoying, any ideas?

I think I found the problem:

After a family bell was executed (which lowers the volume to make sure it’s heard), the volume stayed down and wasn’t corrected back to original.

Regretfully, the new “max volume” isn’t affected by just sliding the volume up again, it just stays where it is.

Any workaround known?

Hi Wilson77,

We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Let's check it out. Have you been able to get back the original volume using Family Bell? All 9 Nest speakers are Nest Minis or Google Home Minis? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, make sure that you remove one Nest speaker from the speaker group and manually change the volume to high and see the difference.

Tell us how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Thanks Muddi, the solution is quite simple: remove all bells, add new ones, BUT ONLY ADD 1 speaker to ring! Don’t try the shortcut (Removing speakers without removing the bell), it doesn’t help!

Case closed.

The idiocy lies in the distribution of signals, for some stupid reason the “o so smart” developers didn’t think of “broadcasting” (through a router group) volume levels but do them IP-based directly to the destination (same reason you’re not able yo change volume levels throughout your house if you’ve got multiple speakers, really dumb)
