Thankyou for the reply, i understand the family plan will solve the issue, i just think its a bit silly to get a family plan just so a 5 year old can play twinkle twinke little star in the kitchen while im at work listening to music, the main issue with that, is that i would have to set voice recognition up, for a young child, he can only just say "hey google, play twinkle twinkle" in a voice that google can understand, theres no way i can set up voice recognition for him.

its a bit of a niche issue i suppose, but an option to pay a bit more on youtube premium to use my account on 2/3/4 devices woul dbe be better than individual accounts, i dont know about other people but i would much rather have 1 account i pay more for, than have seperate accounts for everyone in the house, i dont want my kids to have youtube premium accounts.

thankyou for your ideas though much appreciated

Confused about YouTube music

So I have a few Google devices, a nest in the kitchen, nest mini in living room and bedroom and one in dining room, now my wife listens to music on the kitchen washing up etc, and I want to do the same upstairs or in living room, but you can't stream music from the same YouTube music account on 2 devices at the same time, the only way I can think of to get it to work is to have several Google accounts all with YouTube premium, but then, I can't use calendar or call shortcuts because whichever device I happen to be using will be on the wrong account, so I could set it up with voice recognition so me and the wife have an account and the one we talk to uses our own account, but then my daughter or my 5 year old wants to play something and they can't, is this really how it's meant to work? One individual account for every family member all set up at the same time all with premium, even for the kids? It doesn't seem logical, why can't everyone in the house just use my account I don't get the reason

Hi Xenxshaman,

Thanks for posting.

Hats off to you in thinking of a way to play different music on multiple Nest devices. As for your concern about other features like calendars and such, you can have it personalized by doing a voice match. Follow the steps below:

Open the Google Home app.

Tap Home > Settings > Google Assistant > Voice Match > Other devices.

If you have more than one home, tap the home you want to add Voice Match to.

Tap Get started > follow the in-app steps.

Note: To turn on Voice Match automatically for new devices in the same home, turn on “Automatically enable on future devices.”

For more information, see this guide about voice matches.

Also, all must have a premium account depending on what plan you got from YouTube. Age and accessibility depends on what premium you applied. And when playing music on different devices with different songs, I think I get what you’re trying to say. There is actually a way for you to do this however, you need to reach out to YouTube Music for this to happen. There’s what they call the YouTube family plan in which you can add your family account along with the members attached to it. That way, the home members that you have or will be adding onto your Google Home can request for a specific song/artist/genre.

Check this link for adding home members.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan
