I've read all the posts. I have three Nest Hubs - two Hub Max and one Hub. Every day or other day for the last several months, one or all will randomly disconnect from Wi-Fi and will only come back if you unplug and plug each of them back in. I've read all the posts. This is still an issue. Router is not new. Nothing has changed except that my security system is comprised each second that they are offline. I have several other Nest and other smart devices and none of them does this, so please don't tell me to reset my router. Bandwidth or coverage are not an issue.

Hi, do you know what make and model your wifi router(s) are? Is it WiFi 6, by any chance?

If it is WiFi 6, you might have better luck if you have a user interface that allows you to force your google speakers to connect to 2.4ghz band. I have a WiFi 6 Deco mesh system which doesn't allow this, so they are connecting to 5GHz WiFi 6 which they are not compatible with, and so we have the exact same problem. If you have read the other threads with this issue, you should comment in them and add your voice - this also bumps those threads to the top I think?

Re: ALL nest speakers randomly disconnect from WiF... - Page 2 - Google Nest Community

Google speakers keep losing wifi on new router ("H... - Page 3 - Google Nest Community

Hey Fairwaysalways,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand the feeling when your Google Nest display keeps on disconnecting to the network. I have the same question as @Biggsyboi, so we can check if there are settings on your router that might cause the issue on your Google Nest Hub and Hub Max display. How's the distance between your router and displays? Please make sure they are within 15-20 ft. away from the router. Also, it would be helpful if we can connect one Nest Hub on a different network to check if it will have the same behavior.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi Muddi, One of the displays Hub Max is about 10 feet away. The other Hub Max is about 80 feet away. The Hub is about 40 feet away.

Hey there Fairwaysalways,

Nest speakers are compatible with both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz but, we recommend that you use the 2.4 GHz for range purposes. Also, what ISP are you under and what’s the modem/router manufacturer?

There are Wi-Fi devices that have a band steering frequency in which it automatically connects your devices to the best available WiFi frequency in your home. Most WiFi modems come with two frequencies – 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz – and ask you to choose between them when connecting a device to your home network.

Let's isolate this further.

Thanks for helping, Biggsyboi!

Looks like that is WiFi 5 so your problem may be different to mine. But if you can make the speakers avoid 5ghz and only connect via 2.4ghz, do that at least for troubleshooting purposes.

Not sure what's going on but my system is WiFi 6 (it still broadcasts in the older protocols as well) and Google tech support told me it's not compatible, especially on the 5ghz band.

Hi Fairwaysalways,

Thanks for confirming that what you use is a Netgear Nighthawk. Due to Netgear settings, you may need to complete the following to successfully setup your speaker or display with the router. You must have access to your router settings.

Disable Access Control.

Enable the option "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network" in the Guest Network Setup.

If needed, reach out to Netgear support for further assistance.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Dan

@Dan_A I appreciate your help, but I still need help. What does the guest network have anything to do with this. Why do you folks always assume everyone's a techie. When I buy and connect an Apple product, it just works. Same with Microsoft. Why do I always need to go to the Google community to solve problems and get sent on wild goose chases. You have legions of angry folks out there and while I'm dealing with this major security issue, Google informs they are discontinuing Nest Secure and directing me to ADT whom I fired years ago. Last night, I come home. Hub Max that's 70 feet away is disconnected from Wi-Fi. So is the one 10 feet away from the router. 24 hours later, guess what? The one 10 feet away was disconnected and yes, you know it. The one 70 feet away is still connected, no problem. Seriously Google, fix this!
