Playing BBC Radio on Home Hub

I have always been able to play BBC radio stations on my Home Hub by asking 'play radio 4', but today it just responds 'i can't do that on here'. What has changed?

I have always been able to play BBC radio by asking my Nest devices, "Hey Google, play Radio 2", but this no longer works as of last night.

"Hey Google, play Radio 2": Answer "I can't do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices"

"Hey Google, play BBC Radio 2": Answer "Got it, here's a Youtube playlist called BBC2 sounds of the 1980's"

"Hey Google, play BBC Radio 2 from the BBC": Answer "I looked for BBC2 on the BBC, but is unavailable or can't be played right now"

"Hey Google, play Radio 2 on BBC Sounds": Answer "Voice actions aren't available for that app".

Hi I live Niryhern Ireland up until a day ago I was able to get all radio stations on my Google mini speakers throughout the house.

Yesterday I can get all radio stations except the BBC range of channels. Anyone know why this is. I have reset all my speakers still I CANT DO THAT RIGHT NOW BUT I CAN PLAY IT ON YOUR OTHER DEVICES.

IM COMPLETELY BAFFLED.

There seems to be a few of us having this problem. I have 3 speakers not working. Reports sent to both Google and BBC so keep an eye out for a fix.

I've tried factory resets, setting changes and still no joy.

Hi, I and a few other have posted the same problem, so you're not on your own. reports logged with BBC sounds and Google so hopefully a fix soon.

Polk Assist. Stopped playing BBC stations and now dose not play YouTube. Three Google speakers all OK.

Was working for me this morning. Now my Home Min speaker, my Wifi point and my Nest Hub all tell me "I can't do that here" when asked to play BBC station. Other stations work fine.

I have four different Nest speakers and until about an hour ago, they all played BBC Sounds live radio. Now none of them will do that. The strange thing is to speakers are in entirely separate houses. Everything else works. I get the message that says” I can’t do that, but I can play it on one of your other devices.”

If the BBC has stopped working for you, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

I'm hoping this is a temporary glitch. I started with the same issue this evening. If I ask for a non-bbc station to be streamed, it works without problem. It is still possible to cast from the BBC sounds app on the phone if that helps for now.

A familiar thread over the past couple of day.

I've spent too much time looking into the problem as its a real pain to me and my thought is that the problem is BBC created. Their online help is pretty rubbish but my hunch is they've done something to strengthen their issues with VPN/non UK use, and want everyone to cast from a tablet/mobile to a speaker.

Feels completely out of touch with what people need and what smart speakers are about. Hopefully they'll revert to original.

I've reported to BBC a few ways.

Same for me too, it was working this morning, but now all my Nest speakers and Google Home hub return the same message "I can’t do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices."

Exactly the same problem for me. Suddenly stopped playing any BBC live stations giving the 'I can't do that...." response. Plays all other live radio ok. 😨

Same here! Something fishy is going on. Come on, Google - sort it out... I'm thinking of upgrading to one of those new-fangled radio things... CRAZY HUH!!! They're way more reliable. 😠

I am having exactly the same issue! Worked perfectly fine yesterday, and yet this morning when I ask it to stream BBC radio 2 it tells me it can't do that......and now I have my 82 year old father calling me with the same issue!
