I live in a small apartment and I have a Google device in basically every room: a Mini in the living room, a Mini in the bathroom, and a Hub (2nd gen, I think) in the bedroom. So they can all hear me when I say "Hey, Google." Usually the nearest one to me responds; occasionally one of the further away ones will respond instead; slightly annoying, but fine, whatever. Small apartment.

For the past few weeks, the bedroom Hub has been saying "There was a glitch. Try again in a few seconds." after one of the other devices has already responded to me. For instance, I'll be in the living room and I'll say, "Hey, Google, what time is it?" and the living room one will answer right away. Perfect. But several seconds later, the bedroom Hub will chime in with the glitch message. Or I could be in the bathroom and say, "Hey, Google, play some music." The music will start as expected, but again, several seconds later, I hear the glitch message from the bedroom.

Oddly, the Hub responds perfectly fine when it's being spoken to "directly." If I'm in the bedroom and speaking clearly toward the Hub, it will respond right away and all of the other devices remain silent, as expected.

As I mentioned, this all started a couple of weeks ago and did not coincide with any other changes to the network. Everything was working perfectly, and then, one day, it wasn't. This is incredibly annoying!

I've tried unplugging the Hub for as much as 30 minutes at a time. The error persists as soon as it comes back online.

Hi substream,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? You can check on the provided link for us to know how to handle each device. Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.

Plug them back in after 3 minutes.

Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, test each device to see if the issue persists. If so, let’s revert them back to their default and original settings by doing a factory reset. Here’s how. When setting them up, I suggest you give your speakers a different name.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
