Musicmusic track selection by voice control Google Nest Hub

I have a Google Nest Hub and a Google Nest Mini. Both connected to my Youtube account without a Music subscription. When I select a music track by voice on the Nest Hub, it plays directly as if I had a Youtube Music subscription. When I select a music track by voice on the Nest Mini, it is not played directly but only similar music tracks. But it is connected to the same YouTube account. Is it correct that the Google Nest Hub always plays the title I want even though I don't have a Youtube Music subscription?

Not to my knowledge. I understood that the Home devices- Mini and Hub would both do the song based on your subscription or lack of...

Is it possible the Hub is using a different music service or is it for certain using YTM?

thomas78k, free service will give you stations of songs inspired by the requested song on all Google Nest speakers and displays. You can check out your YouTube music status using this link.

It's still like this: If I choose a specific song on Nest by voice, the song is played. If I select the song on the Mini, I get the answer "You are not a Youtube Premium customer". But the same Youtube account is used. I was a YouTube premium user, but expired in 2021.

When I select a specific song, an ad comes first and then the song is played via audio with no video.

If you don’t have a premium subscription, the norm is for your Nest devices to play random songs, artists, and albums. It will also play songs inspired from the one you requested or songs close to it.

For confirmation, are you still able to play a specific song from your Nest Hub? What about your Nest Mini?

Hello Dan,
It's still the case that I can play songs selected from the Nest Hub directly by title, but there is a short advertisement before it. With the Nest Mini it is as you described that inspired songs come. All devices are still linked to the same Youtube account.

To confirm, are you able to play a specific song on your Nest Hub via voice command? If yes, this works as intended. It is similar to playing songs from the Spotify app on your phone, where you can select a specific artist or album but will get an advertisement when using a free account.

It is as you describe. But why does it only work on the Nest Hub and not on the Nest Mini?
