Problem with my hubs

Hi, just a couple days ago my google devices updated themselves and now they all repeat ”hmm something went wrong, try again in a few seconds” and ”there was a glitch, try…” at least couple times when I try to use the devices. I have two nest minis and two nest hubs, which all do this now. It takes somewhere 20 seconds for the device to answer and then it repeats those problem/glitch sentences. The System firmware version is 348702
minis and in hubs System firmware version is 10.20221207.2.100038
. I tried to reboot all of them, no effect. Also my internet connection is fine, my loanding speeds are around 300/70mb and my latency is below 30. Can’t see any other reason for this behaviour than the firmware update. This is quite frustrating because the problem makes these devices absolutely useless.

Both of my nest hubs are doing this after updating to 10.20221207.2.100038. I do a factory reset and run all the way through the setup procedure to the "Configuring you Nest Hub" screen then get the "Authentication isn't successful" notice. The Google Help Center is no help at all. Both worked fine before the "update".

Hi folks,

@Toni-303, @dawInMN, @Metalergr, this is not the experience we want you to have, and we appreciate you taking the troubleshooting steps. To go further, let’s try to eliminate network issues. Try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one to serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home or Nest devices). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Hi Metalergr,

Thanks for trying to connect it using a different network. Since it still works with mobile hotspot, here's what you need to check with your home network:

Check that your Google Home device is receiving power from a wall outlet. If your Google Home is receiving power, you will see a blinking white light on the back of the device.

Make sure that your Google Home device, wireless router, and device used to set up the Google Home (e.g. phone or tablet) are in close physical proximity to one another -- within 15 feet, if possible.

Please note: Networks that require you to connect through an authentication page (also called a "captive portal") are not supported by Google Home. This is typical of hotels, schools, dorms and businesses.

Configuring your Router Settings

Be sure to enable or disable the following router settings to allow Google Home to communicate properly with your router and network. All routers are different, so each setting may or may not appear on your particular router (or may be named differently).

Keep in mind that resetting or making changes to your router settings may have unintended consequences. If you need help or have questions/concerns, contact your router manufacturer or internet service provider (ISP).

Enable: Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), multicast, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
Disable: AP/client isolation, virtual private networks (VPNs), proxy servers, IGMP Proxy. VPNs and proxy servers should be disabled on your computer as well (if applicable).

Just in case you don't know to check these settings, you can always ask help from your ISP to guide you or help you configure these settings.

Keep us posted.

Best,

I noticed that you mentioned your device is working when connected to a hotspot. It seems like there might be something on your network that is causing your device to not function properly.

Hi Muddi.

I don't believe that is my network issue because my Nest hub was working with my setup prior the update.

And everything else works fine.

Hello Metalergr,

I understand that all other devices are working. However, since your Nest Hub works on a different network, I still recommend that you contact your network provider to check with them if there's a recent update on your router that may have caused the issue. Also, please check if the iPv6 network is enabled on your router. If yes, please try disabling it, then check if that fixes the issue.

Cheers,

Muddi
