BroadLink Remote Sensor Accessory RM4 mini/pro-Assistant reads the temp as Celsius not Fahrenheit

I'm having a couple of problems with the temperature part of the BroadLink remote sensor accessory for the RM4 mini and pro. For some reason when I say "hey google, what is the temperature in the bedroom" it will return with "It is xx.x degrees" but its in Celsius even though everything I can think of is set to Fahrenheit. When I ask what the nest thermostat says it replies in Fahrenheit but when I ask what the temperature in the living room from the Broadlink sensor, it will reply in Celsius. Now, I thought it was the sensor that had something to do with it but I recently bought an Amazon echo, which turned out to be a real POS but in the Alexa app on my phone it, showed the nest thermostat as well as both the temps of the sensors with their readings in Fahrenheit. Oddly enough in the Alexa app it didn't show the humidity sensors.

Google home shows the humidity sensors readings but not the temperature sensors readings. The humidity sensor shows on the main screen with the percentage and when you tap on it, it brings up a screen showing a circle with the percentage in the middle. The temperature sensor does show but is blank on the main screen and when you tap on it it brings up the device settings screen for the sensor instead of the temp. Oh and in the Broadlink app the temps are all in Fahrenheit.

I don't know where the problem is.. I don't know if I should contact Google Assistant to report a bug... or Google Home? Has anyone else had this issue that they have been able to resolve. It would be nice if you could see the temps in the main screen of Google home like you can with the humidity and it would be nice to be able to get the bedroom temperature through assistant without having to make two commands (hey google, what's the temperature in the bedroom. and hey google, what's xx.x degrees Celsius in Fahrenheit.)

like I say the temps are available in Fahrenheit as the Alexa app shows and "announces" when asked but they don't show in the Google Home app and only "announce" in Celsius with Google assistant.

ive got exactly the same issue with google home, seeing the humidity, but no temperature in its sensor. i haven't done much research yet into why except seeing this. (im in Australia so the Celcius thing isn't an issue)

https://ibb.co/rQ5fmBB

Hopefully Google support will see this and have some sort of response. As I say... I don't know if this is an Assistant, Home or maybe even a Broadlink issue.

Broadlink seems to have quite a problem with their products functioning as advertised, at least for me, so I wouldn't rule them out. The RM4 mini and pro (I swapped them and tried) both have issues functioning with my TV (monitor) and computer (old HP windows media center remote) and the pro doesn't do RF very well either. It doesn't recognize two different model RF mini keyboards, the main reason I purchased the pro. It does recognize my car's remote but doesn't work with it. I do think that's a security-related issue maybe dealing with encryption or maybe a distance issue so that doesn't bother me.

When I try to use either Broadlink remotes for the computer (the power button on the original remote puts the computer to sleep which I use in my "goodnight" routine) and the remote will sometimes put the computer to sleep but I have found even using the app (showing all the buttons but these aren't presets, I had to program the buttons.), if I hit the power button it wont respond but if I hit one of the other buttons like menu and then the power button is might activate sleep. So in my routine I have it send the commands "enable menu on computer", "enable menu on computer" then "turn computer off" which puts it to sleep and that works about 90% of the times. The TV has the same issue but not as often and I only have 2 commands (back button then power button) and that usually works about 99%. I have no idea why Broadlink is so bad at sending a simple frequency. I just cant figure it out. I watch it, I see the led light on the RM4 mini/pro and on the HP media center receiver flash but it does nothing yet if you keep tapping different buttons icons eventually the power button will work.

I could just try to create a RM4 device, doesn't seem like it would be that hard. One kit I got for a Raspberry pi included IR diodes. I would just have to research a circuit and the programming. LOL I guess if I really wanted to, I already have a pi running as a DNS server. I could use that but to be honest, I don't know the programming very well, I don't really know how to create the circuit for the IR diode and I'm just too lazy to do the research 🙂

Hi folks,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community and sorry for the late response

.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Could you try to adjust the Assistant settings to your preferred weather unit by using the steps below. Then observe if this will make a difference.

Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.

Open the Google Home app .

At the top right, tap your account.

Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Nest speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.

Tap Assistant settings Weather.

Choose a weather unit.

Check this link for more information.

For the other BroadLink RM4 functions that don't work, I suggest you contact their support group so we can get their input about this.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

as I said .. everything is set for F but it will announce C only EVERYTHING is set to F Alexa reads the temp from those sensors in F so that is definitely a GOOGLE issue. But google has shown that it doesn't fix anything .. if it doesn't work, it wont.

Same EXACT issues as OP. Asking Google what the temp is returns a real response indicating that Google is in fact receiving the temp from broadlink. However, the temp does not show up in the Google home app even though humidity does, and the result is in Celsius even though everything in Google and broadlink is set to Fahrenheit. Please help us fix!

Same issue here. Broadlink sensor only shows humidity in Google home app not temperature, however within the Broadlink app I can see the humidity and temperature. Not sure if this is a Google or Broadlink issue? But would really like it resolved as Broadlink is meant to work with Google. Says so on the box

Google suggests contacting Broadlink which means ... Google isn't going to do anything about the problem with their app. I'm dealing with the same problem with Google Pay ... there is a blatant problem with the records it records in the app. I recreated the issue twice .. both times with a 15 dollar and 10 dollar charge Google Pay says they each were 126 dollars. So you cant by gas with Google pay or you have to ignore what google pay says you spent. This issue is proven and Google is to blame .. so far its been going on for 5 months and just like here .. "They will check this with the team and get back to me right away once we have news to share"

In other words... Its Google and if its broke it will always be broke until they end support on it. Broadlink isn't any better. I sent a request to support(at)ibroadlink.com on 12/22/2022 and have yet to get a reply from them (didn't even and acknowledgement that they got the request)

Of course, you should NOT listen to the Community Specialist because they have shown they are lacking even the slightest amount of brains. This is an issue with many devices and even different products from Google. This issue happens with Nest hub and Nest Mini.. It happens on first setup so resetting to factory default is only a waste of time having to reset up the devices. I would maybe say that would be a suggestion if any of us actually got the device to work with Google but since none of us has and the temperature does work properly with Alexa so this isn't a problem with the product, it is a problem with Google. Broadlink is also a company who you should not buy from because they too refuse to support their products. You seem to have misread the posts .. as of now two people have contacted Broadlink and Broadlink has not responded. That has also been said! So for you to reply with "Let’s wait for the update from Broadlink." is asinine.

Please don't reply unless you have some news about Google fixing this issue with their products! Your responses show that you do not have enough knowledge to be labelled as a Community Specialist especially with this last one. Oh and BTW .. DON'T EVER TELL PEOPLE TO UNSTALL AND REINSTALL GOOGLE HOME!!! I lost all my data for my thermostat for a year .. now I cant compare now that I have had it for the full seasons ... that data is gone because I reinstalled home to try to get other things working that were bugged and as I knew .. the reset didn't fix the GOOGLE BUG with the temperature sensors

Again DO NOT REPLY AGAIN TO THE POST or make sure you use your brain (I know its really hard for you). The only reply I expect to see from a Community Specialist, is a solution to this bug! Stupid answers really piss me off, Juni.

Same issue here. Hey Google - fix this!

The RM4 mini link to google home displays room's humidity level , but not the current temperature.

is it like my post where it shows the devices in home but no values for both humidity and temperature or do you not even see the devices in home? It seems everyone that is having issues, its like my post where there is the devices and the value for humidity works but the value for the temperature does not. Google assistant will reply with the temperature but only in Celsius.

If you aren't seeing the devices themselves then you may have to go to "Home->Settings->Works with Google" then tap BroadLink and choose Reconnect account and maybe, once done, it will at least show up like the screenshot above (or you will be able to add them, lol I've had these things for over 2 years, I cant remember if they just showed up or if I had to add them after linking Broadlink with Home) with the humidity sensor working and the temperature sensor there but showing nothing.

Good luck, seems that Google isn't going to do anything about this and neither is BroadLink since I have sent support an email and someone else from this thread also stated they sent an email and at the time of their posting they didn't receive any contact from them and to this day neither have I and I have been waiting since Dec. 2022. You can try to contact them but I don't give it much hope. their address is "support [at] ibroadlink [dot] com" at least that's the only address I have found.

In my case, the RM4 mini shows up as 2 distinct devices in my Google Home, one device for Humidity with proper level being reported and another device for Temperature with no reported value. On the other hand, the BroadLink app shows one RM4 device with 2 sub-devices (Temp and Humidity) and both of these sensors are correctly reporting in this app.

In my opinion, Google Home should be capable of accessing both sensors, but only Humidity is being read.

Thanks John! Yes exactly devices were added with “works with Google”. And on my case, neither humidity nor temperature shows up in Google Home.

I’m getting frustrated with all these things, working in IT I cannot understand the lack of support and customer service. They should learn a bit from Amazon and their customer obsession.

I recently bought a Bose SoundLink speaker, because it worked with Google Home, but it turns out is not possible to add it to a speaker group, there seems to be a workaround, but only for USA (I live in Argentina).
It seems I will need to sell all my goggle/nest devices and go with Amazon/echo
