Google home routines

I am trying to set up a routine to play the radio every morning ata certain time

i have created a routine with the starter as a time and selected play radio from the media sub menu, i selected the local radio station and picked the device to play the radio on but it wont let me save the routine,it keeps saying that playing the radio will happen after everything else, but there are no other items in the routine.

i tried adding something before that to set the volume but istill cant save the routine, what am i missing, why wont it save

For the record, I've also edited the name of the routine and it still won't save

I tried putting an announcement before the radio, no joy

Tried adding a similar routine to see if I could produce this response and it saved OK. Then had a thought and tried to add the routine where the radio station that I added was not valid, e.g. just said the radio station name was 'xyz' and it came up with the response that you said, e.g. about it will happen after everything else. Not a very helpful response.

Seems, therefore, that the radio station you are trying to play is not being recognised by google. Might need to check the syntax of the name.

Not recognising any local radio stations near me, I wonder if there's some setting not letting it search local stations, I've even picked the recommended stations

Hi @Lostinlinix

Do you normally play your local radio station through your google speakers, and if so how do you trigger this. If you do and you normally trigger this using a voice command then when creating the routine rather than the 'Play and control media' option use the 'Try adding your own' option and add the phrase you usually use to trigger playing that radio station at other times.

Thanks again, tried the phrase I use to activate, no complaints or errors but it wont save

I'm wondering if it's the account, sometimes the little wheel just sits and spins then I have to cancel and select again

Sounds like it must be something like that, since when you create a routine as long as it has a title, starter and action, even if the action is complete gibberish you should be able to save it. On the odd occasion that I amend or change a routine I tend to use the Google Home app on my phone, linked to the network of course and if you do the same guess you could try restarting your phone and try again.

Little wheels spinning normally mean its trying to connect and having difficulty but you probably already know that.

Perhaps the issue is location based? i am living in Germany and this routine only works in USA?

Hey folks,

Sorry for the late response here. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues saving your routines on the Google Home app. To confirm, does the same thing happen when you don't include a time in your routine? Does it happen to other home members? What is the Google Home app version on your phone? Have you tried using a different phone/tablet?
