Thank you. I could do a factory reset, and I did consider that. But the worry I have is, will the devices I have at present, all older versions, get bricked when I try to add them to Google home. If that is the case, I may well continue with the Nest app for however long they support it. It would seem to be extremely wasteful to ditch perfectly useful devices.

I am looking for advice/solution to my quandry.

I have a Nest account (now migrated to google) and use the Nest app, set up many years ago with & nest protects (2nd gen), 2 Nest Thermostats (2nd gen), 1 nest door bell (ist gen) and 2 outdoor cameras(1st gen). (I had 3 indoor drop cams, and Google replaced it with 2 Google cameras, of which I only plan to use 1 indoor)

My nest account email needs to be changed, for various reasons. I wish to start over with a different email. I cancelled my Nest aware subscription when it was due for renewal a few months ago.

I am now trying to set up my Google Home, and wish to add all my previous products to a different email account of mine, and then subscribe to the video monitoring service.

This is where I seem to have got stuck.

I used one indoor Google camera (which Google sent), which I was able to add to the new account.

But, will I be able to add all my older products ( 7 Protects, 2 Thermostats, 1, Video doorbell, 2 Cameras) to my new email and start a subscription service.

Am I doomed? And I will need to replace all the older products?

You will have to do a factory reset on all of your devices and then reinstall them, and hope that all goes well on the reinstalls.

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247296

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9226486

@rsudesh

We are still using the Google Nest app for our 1st gen cameras and doorbells. If you have 1st gen cameras and doorbells, you would reinstall them in the Google Nest app UNLESS you have "transferred" them to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app. And Nest Protects still work only in the Google Nest app. For thermostats, it depends on which model you have.

But Google Nest does not provide any way to change your email account without doing a factory reset and reinstalling them.

And for 1st gen cameras and doorbells, I think you'll have to remove them from the Google Nest app while still on your old Wi-Fi network in order to factory reset them.

And yes, some customers discover they are unable to reinstall their devices.

Thanks very much for your suggestions. I have decided to get/renew Nest Aware on my Nest app, and not pursue simplifying things on my side as it appears to be too cumbersome, plus the possibility of bricking a whole lot of devices. I may ultimately have to do this when Google ditches Nest app. Until then at least, will continue status quo. Maybe a better solution will appear from ?Apple.
