Nest aware deletes video history

I searched the internet up and down and thought that if I signed up for the nest aware finally, that I would be able to watch the break in that happened when I was not subscribed to nest aware. That is totally false. I was at least able to see previews of the people responsible for the break in before I signed up. But once I paid $8, Nest deleted all the old video history. I now have no evidence of the break in. They screwed me here big time with no warning. I will be asking for a refund to the subscription along with selling these cameras and buying a different brand. Outrageous! Use this as caution if deciding if nest is the right option for you.

If you do NOT have a Nest Aware subscription, then Google Nest gives you access to video clips of events that occurred in the most recent 3 hours if you have 2nd gen cameras and doorbells, and snapshots of events that occurred in the most recent 3 hours if you have 1st gen cameras and doorbells; after 3 hours, that minimal history disappears.

When you purchase a Nest Aware subscription, your video history starts accruing at the time you purchase the subscription. It is NOT retroactive because without a subscription they were only capturing history for the most recent 3 hours.

Also, at the $8/month rate ($80/year), you have a "Nest Aware" subscription, providing event video history of detected events. At the $15/month rate ($150/year), you can get a "Nest Aware Plus" subscription, providing 24/7 video history for the most recent 10 day plus event video history for the most recent 60 days.

I don't know exactly what happens to any non-subscription history for the most recent 3 hours when you purchase a Nest Aware subscription, but I think those event clips would have disappeared in a few hours anyway.

Without the subscription, I was unable to watch the video. I can only see a photo of what caused the movement. In this case, a picture of the person. Once I purchased the $8 subscription, the photo I had of the person is gone, totally deleted. I have 0 movements detected on all of the cameras. It does look like it restarted, but that would have been very helpful to know before they deleted the past footage. A warning would have been nice.

I agree; a warning would have been helpful so you at least could have tried to save or download the picture.

But I think the picture might have disappeared after 3 hours anyhow.

Google Nest could also be clear that video history STARTS accruing at the moment you purchase a subscription.
