Nest camera control

should I be using the google home app or the Nest app to control my google nest cameras? IS there a difference? Which gives better control and setup for features?

The 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells get installed in the Google Nest app, but can be viewed (but not configured) in the Google Home app if you have "migrated" your Nest Account to a Google Account (we did so in 2020) and log onto the Google Nest app with the "Sign in with Google" option. The 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells (released starting in Sept. 2021) get installed in the Google Home app and CANNOT be installed in the Google Nest app.

However, if you upgrade to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app (available since Oct. 2022, I think), then you can "transfer" your 1st gen cameras and doorbells individually from the Google Nest app to that "Public Preview" version. See this post:
