Nest Aware for outdoor battery cam

I have several indoor wired cameras (Dropcam Pro, Nest 1st gen and Nest 2nd gen, and doorbell/camera wired 1st gen) as well as two outdoor battery cameras that are powered only by the battery.

If I subscribe to Nest Aware...

1. Does it affect the battery of the outdoor cameras?

2. Does it work for the DropCam Pro cameras until Sept. 2024?

Hello prmcpa,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. For the 2nd Generation Nest Aware subscription, which has 2 plans: Nest Aware Base and Nest Aware Plus, it is compatible with both the 1st and 2nd generation Nest Camera and Doorbell. But for the 1st generation Nest, the subscription will only work for the 1st Generation Nest Camera. Nest Aware will work on Dropcam until its end of life in April 2024.

Here is a link on how to buy and manage a Nest Aware subscription.

Is there one subscription that will work for all of my cameras (Dropcam Pro, Nest 1st gen, Nest Doorbell 1st gen, Nest indoor camera 2nd gen and Nest Outdoor battery cameras?

Also, whatever subscription I go with, does it use up the battery more on the outdoor battery cameras?

Hi there,

Sorry for the confusion. The 1st Generation Nest Aware will only work with the 1st Generation Camera or doorbell like the Dropcam and Nest Hello. But for 2nd Generation Nest aware subscription it will work on all types of Google Nest Cameras and Doorbell. Having a Nest-aware subscription on Nest Camera or Doorbell battery will not affect the battery usage.

@EdmondB When you say "2nd Generation Nest Aware subscription", do you mean Nest Aware Plus? I don't see "2nd Generation Nest Aware" on the "Choose your plan" page of the store. I just see "Nest Aware" or "Nest Aware Plus".

Hey there,

The 2nd Generation Nest Aware Subscription has 2 types of plans, which are Nest Aware Base and Nest Aware Plus. Nest Aware Base is an event based recording, while Nest Aware Plus has 24/7 continuous recordings that are recommended for hardwired Google Nest cameras or doorbells.

For Nest Aware Base or Nest Aware Plus, yes, it will record any events for all types of Nest Google Camera and Doorbell (Dropcam, Nest Cam IQ outdoor and Indoor, 1st Gen Nest Cam outdoor and Indoor, Nest Hello Doorbell, Nest Camera battery, and 2nd Gen Nest Doorbell battery and wired).
