Google Home member cant see devices

We have several nest devices in our home and myself and my wife use our phones to both access those devices and the home away assist for turning the heating on etc.

We now want to add my son to this so the heating will come on when he gets home. He has been invited to join the family and has accepted. He shows in the family as a member but when I go into the nest app and login it doesn't show any devices. Ideally, I want him to not be able to actually use any of the devices but to influence the home and away assist.
