Subscription too much for only one camera

Why is the price so high when I only have one doorbell and no other cameras? I find it impossible to justify the subscription price.

Arlo have a single-camera-only subscription for less than half the price of Aware, it's much more tempting.

I feel like the subscription is designed for people with many cameras. Living in a unit, it doesn't make sense for me to have more than one camera. Why should I subsidise the price of people with several cameras?
