Nest thermostat recently started dropping battery level

Hi,

I've had a Nest thermostat for ~10 years. Recently, it's battery level started dropping below the level required to keep a WiFi connection. I don't have a C wire, but given this hasn't been a problem in a long time I assume that's not the issue. Is it possible that the rechargeable battery has just lost it's ability to maintain enough charge? Is there a way to change that?

Also, if I take it off and manually charge it then the power level goes about 3.85V again and it works. But then a day or two later it drops too low again (3.59V)

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Did you recently have any power outages or service work? In what states are you located? Please try to remove your thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent. Check if the thermostat wires are secured in their terminals and all the buttons are down.

It's a Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd gen. No, no power outages. I'm in Massachusetts. I didn't see any bent connections, but I will check the wires.

Also, I tried restarting the thermostat. Since then, it looks like the battery has stated at 3.85V. Maybe that fixed the problem!
