Property manager will not share the user ID and password and I live far from my vacation home

I need your advice. I just terminated my property manager as they have been taking advantage of us. We requested them to provide us with the user ID and password for the nest thermostat and they refuse. They said that we can set it up ourselves if we go to the house. The problem is we live so far- approx 400 miles. Can I request a friend to go to the house and set up an account with nest to access our thermostat? If yes, are they able to share the user ID and password and we can access it as well through the nest APP on our phone? Thank you

You don't need the username or password of the account that setup the thermostat to resolve this. Your friend can follow these steps:

First, factory reset the thermostat.

Once reset, if it is a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E, follow these steps:
Add your Nest thermostat to the Nest app - Google Nest Help

If it's a Nest Thermostat (2020), follow these steps:
Get started with your Nest Thermostat - Google Nest Help
