I am building a new home with 2 stage heating/cooling. I have 2 of learning thermostats that I wanna use but my plumber says they supply Honeywell smart thermostats and they have to use the stats it comes with. I have continental C96 furnace. Is it not possible to get my nest learning thermostats?

There is no legitimate reason that I can see that you can not use the Nest Learning Thermostat.

My first question is why is the plumber installing the HVAC system?

Thank you for the response. I meant the HVAC tech (the company is performing both jobs) @Patrick_Caezza I'm having a conversation with them on Monday. The basic connections, wiring or setups wouldn't have differ, correct?

Unless they are using a proprietary interface, it should work.

They might have a policy that only installs what they provide, meaning you must install the Nest afterward.

Ask them if they are using the standard 24vac thermostat control and if a C wire is being installed.
