topic Nest compatibility in Nest Thermostats

I have a new heat pump with a two year old gas furnace as a backup. My thermostat is a Honeywell and there are only two wires, one connected to the C terminal and one to the R terminal. I looks like there is a jumper wire between the R and RC terminal also. Is the nest thermostat compatible with my system?

Hi Gm2023,

Thanks for bringing this up here in the Google Nest community. Let's look deeper into this. A two-wire system can work with the Nest Thermostat, but we need more information before we can conclude. Please answer the following:

Are you from North America or Europe?

What type of Nest Thermostat do you have or plan to have?

Send us a picture of your HVAC control board wiring.

What is the make and model of your HVAC?

In addition to this, you could also check our Nest thermostat compatibility checker.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Renz

I don’t currently have a nest thermostat but am in north America and have a low voltage system. I’ve attached three pictures, one at the furnace, a additional circuit board the installer added when I had the heat pump installed and one of my current thermostat. My heat pump is a Trane model XR17 2 Stg 1hp. I did try the nest compatibility checker and it just requested more information.

Hello Gm2023,

Thanks for the update and additional information. Based on the photos you sent to us and the model of your HVAC, we recommend a Nest Pro technician install the Nest thermostat for you. If you decide to have a Nest thermostat.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Regards,
