Nest Thermostat compatibility with HVAC system

Looking to install Nest thermostats.

We have a zoned system Maytag M1010 Series 90/92 AFUE HE Furnace / 12 SEER HE A/C with a DuroZone SMZ-SW Zone Control System.

There is one master thermostat with W, B, G, O, Y, RH to RC wires and two other thermostats with W, Y and R (B & G present, but not connected) .

Hi Eyewalk,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. Fortunately, your thermostat wires are compatible with our Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation only and should be wired to the Nest Learning Thermostat base as follows:

W wire to W1
B wire to C
G wire to G
O wire to OB
Y wire to Y1
RH wire to RH
RC wire to RC

Your other two thermostats are compatible with any of our Nest Thermostat and should be wired to the Nest Thermostat base as W wire to W1 or W, Y wire to Y1 or Y, and R wire to R, RC, or RH. Also, here's a guide for the installation and setup of a Nest Thermostat.

Thank you for this. I was also able to chat with someone at Nest and they told me that the thermostat was not compatible. I may go ahead and try it based on your wiring instructions. Thank you.

I have wired the Learning Thermostat as per your specifications and there is no power to the thermostat - please advise...

No power to Nest Learning Thermostat when wiring as instructed

and two other thermostats with W, Y and R (B & G present, but not connected) .

I had one person answer my original question, but no response after trying the wiring suggested:

Following these instructions, there is no power to the Nest thermostat.

Hello Eyewalk,

It's me again—what is the exact power error message that appears on the thermostat? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If yes, would you mind listing them?

There was no power to the thermostat with the above wiring. After chats with a couple of support people at Nest, it was determined that my system is NOT compatible with any Nest thermostat without a C wire or 3 power connectors (one for each thermostat), either of which would need to be done by an HVAC specialist. I have returned the Nest thermostats to the electric company.
