Wiring a Rheem RH2TZ4821STANNJ for Nest learning thermostat

Hello all.

I'm switching out our thermostat for the nest learning thermostat.

This is a new Rheem RH2TZ4821STANNJ and the wiring (see picture) is as such.

Red - RH with jumper to RC

Green - G

Yellow - Y

Black - Y2

Brown - C

Blue - B

White -W2

Orange - not connected

Assistance appreciated.

Hi - Your setup looks like it will work with what looks like a 2-stage AC system?

Keep the original thermostat and use the following when connecting the Nest:
W - (Heat/Furnace control)
Y1/Y2 (AC/Compressor) - Connect Y1 to Yellow, and Y2 to Black
G (Unconditioned air - fan control) - Green
Rh (Red wire) - Furnace power/control
C (Common) - Connect Brown wire

Any jumpered wires, keep them the same (jumpered) and make sure to turn off power to Rheem/thermostat before installing the Nest. On power up, Nest will go through identifying the wires and warn if there are any issues (in my case it confused my AC/Y1 with the Common wire because I was trying to connect the Y1(AC) to the Common on my furnace control board). Once I moved this Y1 wire to the 'Y' on furnace control board, Nest identified it correctly and AC/Compressor could be controlled).

Hi - Your wiring (original) has 2 wires for cooling (Yellow -- Y1 and Black Y2) indicating 2 stage for controlling your Rheem. The Nest Learning supports this so for controlling these stages (cooling) - connect Y1 (Yellow) and Y2 (Black) of the attached baseplate:

Hi - that wiring to the baseplate looks correct (particularly for the 2 stage Y wires) - can you confirm the equipment detected when going into Settings-->Equipment?

Also - under that menu on the Nest itself - choose Power and reply with the power readings for the Nest.

One picture I forgot to take was whether stage 2 heat pump was heating and cooling, cooling only, or heating only. I believe I have it at cooling only.

@BtheG, thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. I see no wrong in your wiring configuration of your thermostat wires from previous to the Nest Learning Thermostat base. Is your W2 an auxiliary heat or alternative heat?

I think to answer your question, it's an aux heat. I think my largest concern is whether the heat pump for stage to is heating and cooling, just heating, or just cooling. I currently have it set to cool only. Here are some more pictures, any assistance is greatly appreciated!!!!

Here are general steps to access the settings on a Nest Thermostat, which is a popular thermostat brand often used with heat pump systems:

Open the Nest app or visit https://goo.gle/2qjvVSU and log in to your account.
Select the thermostat associated with your heat pump system.
Look for the settings or configuration menu within the app or website.
Within the settings, search for options related to heat pump staging or operation modes.
Check the configuration for Stage 2 and see if it is set to "Heat," "Cool," or "Auto."
