Nest reads Delayed randomly stopped Heating and Cooling my home

Hi all,

As the title lists I’ve just randomly ran into some really odd issues. For the last few months Nest and AC unit worked perfect, no issues to be seen.

Within the last 20 days or so I’ve started experiencing some odd problems. I left for vacation and set everything to the eco/away settings. Previously I’ve never turned on the heat (I live in Florida and just moved in October so I’ve never needed the heat.) fast forward to last week, I tried the heat for the first time and noticed my nest read Delayed from my phone, I went up to the thermostat and turned it to Heat and it appeared to be working but went to vents, no heat. I thought “oh well” and turned it back to Cool and left it alone.
Today was a little warmer, tried turning the thermostat to Cool. Didn’t think anything of it, looked to be working, went to my vent, no cold air. Blower is obviously working but my Nest doesn’t seem to be calling for heat or cold?? I have made no changes to wiring, and the ONLY thing that’s different between things working and now is i attempted to turn on my heat. Anyone have any ideas how to resolve? I don’t believe there’s any issues with my AC itself. I’ve checked my breakers and all appears as expected.

Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat reads delayed randomly and stopped heating and cooling your home. Let me take a look at this for you. A few questions:

Are you located in North America or Europe?
What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
Did you try using the Help Center or troubleshooter before contacting support? If so, which steps have you tried already?
When did cooling last work?
If not newly installed, was it working before?
What type of system do you have? (Heat Pump or conventional type)
Did you turn off the power to your HVAC system?
Do you have a photo of your old thermostat? Make sure your Nest Thermostat is wired correctly and verify that the display is receiving power.
Did your utility company install a box on your HVAC system that turns the system off during high demand (peak) times to save energy?
Have you experienced extremely hot weather lately?
Do you see a power error code on your thermostat?
Have you set up a temperature schedule for your thermostat?
