topic Preventing Legionella and setting of hot water thermostat setting in Nest Thermostats

Hi

I know that the Nest Thermostat will automatically heat hot water to kill legionella bacteria. I don’t understand how this links to the hot water thermostat setting. If this is 60C plus then Legionella will be killed when the water is heated. If the thermostat is set less than 60C, say 50C, then the Nest won’t be able to heat the water beyond 50C.

so it looks like the legionella protection also requires the hot water thermostat to be set to the correct level otherwise the Nest legionella protection won’t work.

Can you confirm if I have understood this correctly?

Thanks

is this
