The user manual comes with the thermostat from new, [not pdf, but you say not online version anyway] if you don't have the original manual ask the retailer where is it.

You say not an online version, buying one might be tricky to find one as, as most people download the PDF file.

Obviously there is an online version, but that would be no good to you.

I have thrown loads of manuals away, which could have helped you out, which is a pity.

Maybe I was very unclear!
1) The user manual comes with the thermostat from new
That is very fine. But how to get the same as a file (PDF)?
I want to search something for any possible keyword!

2) You say not an online version
I need the full manual version for my hardware and firmware. The online version is full of wasting information about different other hardware and has a terrible user guidance.

The user interface (online) is very poor and not really searchable.

I'm looking for a complete PDF manual for my Nest Thermostat 3rd gen!
That means all sorts of things, what you can set and what you can see.

I find a lot of things you can do online, spread across several sites. But, all of this information are not clear and published in the right context.

If everything was available to me as a PDF or online version like a book, I would be very happy.

How do we solve this?
