The temperature in the house reads as 22 degrees c and I have set the desired temperature to 20 degrees c. The thermostat is black showing it is not heating, but the temperature does not come down and the radiators in the house are still pushing our heat. I though the desired temperature was below the actual temperature it would stop heating until the desired temperature was reached. I have turned off the auto schedule

Hi folks,

Uh-oh! If the temperature in your house is reading as 22 degrees Celsius and you have set the desired temperature to 20 degrees Celsius, but the thermostat is not indicating that it is heating (black display), and the radiators are still emitting heat, the delay between the thermostat signaling the heating system to turn off and the actual temperature drop in the house can be due to factors like the thermal mass of the building or the heating system itself. Double-check the thermostat settings and ensure it is set to the appropriate heating mode. Additionally, consider if there is another heat source contributing to the higher temperature. Also a few questions:

Are you located in North America or Europe?

What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?

Is the Nest Thermostat newly installed?

Did you use the Compatibility Checker tool to confirm the thermostat's compatibility.

What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)

When did heating last work?

Did heating ever work with the Nest thermostat?

Did the heating work with the previous thermostat?

Did you turn off the power to the HVAC system?

Did you recently turn off any breakers?

Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?

Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?

Did you select the correct fuel type?

Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board? If yes, locate the light.

When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?

Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?

Is this the first notable temperature drop of the year in the area?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Not sure if you were responding to me or the other person but I installed my nest three months ago I've had cold days I've been running my heat for at least two now on and off and I have had no issues. It works for me remotely at the house and on the unit so I haven't had any issues up until now. I've tried restarting a nest I've went down checked my breakers checked the switch my air filter was changed 2 weeks ago.

.

Hi Babszbaby,

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you post a photo of your Nest Thermostat's wiring configuration and its power readings? If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E, go to Settings > Technical Info > Power and list down its power readings for Battery, VOC, VIN, and lIN. For Nest Thermostat 2020, go to Settings > Equipment > Power Info and list down its power readings for VIN, IIN, and PS-*.

Regards,

Zoe
