I have a Robertshaw 780-715 U Ignition Control Unit (non-lockout model) in my gas furnace. I assume I need the Nest Power Connector since I only have two wires (red and white) that goes to my existing thermostat which I want to replace with the Google Nest Learning Thermostat. Received Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) a few days ago and finally installed it today with just the two wires (red and white). Everything appears to be working! So apparently in my situation, the 3rd gen Nest works with just 2 wires and the Nest Power Connector is not necessary.
